The Dickens Festival takes place for the 27th time, and every year it is attended by around 150,000 visitors. The smell of punch, towering Christmas trees and beautiful renovated buildings are the decor. The 19th century English city of Charles Dickens comes to life in its full glory in the historic Bergkwartier of Deventer. On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 December over 950 characters from the famous books of this English writer come to life: from Scrooge to Oliver Twist, from Mr Pickwick to Christmas Carol Singers, from orphan children to office clerks and posh people.

We recommend you come to Deventer by public transport. The bus will take you directly to Deventer, from bus stop 'Woodbrookers' at our door.
